This is a statue of a Qilin, a mythical beast that appears in Chinese mythology. The Qilin is known as Kirin in Japanese mythology.

It is said to be a very auspicious animal that appears as a harbinger of good things. It is also said to be very gentle and kind, and it does not even want to step on the plants or insects at its feet, so it is said to fly through the air. This makes it a symbol of peace and happiness.

The scales, the movement of the beard, and the flow of the clouds at the feet of the qilin all create a divine atmosphere.
